News about Chess at Letzi

As there are now certain relaxations of the Corona restrictions we asked the GZ Bachwiesen if and under what conditions we can again offer chess for adults. If possible, we will play a tournament over the board on April 27th! We will keep you updated!

We kindly ask you to mark an appointment in your in the calendar already now: Our general assembly 2021 will be held on Tuesday June 8th 2021 – depending on the situation either in the GZ or even online.

The SSB has now postponed a possible start of the SMM 2021 until at the earliest after the summer holidays:

Newsletter

Despite all Corona restrictions we can at least offer kids training up to an age of 15.
After discussing it with the GZ Bachwiesen and following the safety precautions, we started last week with 7 kids! For further information please get in touch with Roger Loup at the venue or online with Kurt Glatzfelder.

Christmas Newsletter

Dear Chess Friends,

The year is now slowly coming to an end and even though the situation is recently not developing so positively, I hope that you are healthy and can spend the holidays with family and friends!

Because of the restrictions of the GZ Bachwiesen and the Bundesrat/BAG, we cannot meet in our venue until January 22nd. However, until then we have at least some online chess on the agenda, starting with a rapid tournament in arena style on lichess:

Christmas Tournament

Finally, it was good playing again with real pieces – even though it was a bit strange wearing with a face mask and having a glass divider between the boards.

Our strong youngster Raphael Niederberger was able to win this round-robin tournament (7+3) – Congards!

Let’s close this difficult year with a Christmas tournament over the board on December 8th 2020 – blitz or rapid will be decided by our tournament director Roger! Please let us know in the following doodle if you would like to participate – it very much helps us with the planning:

News from the club

We still can meet under certain constraints in our venue GZ – please refer to some regulations further down in this newsletter!
This Tuesday November 10th, our tournament director Roger Loup will organize a rapid tournament!

In the Swiss Team Battle we managed to advance back to league 2! Best player for Letzi: Werner, Georg and Patric – but congrats to the whole team! Tuesday November 17th we will now start in league 2 with a time control of 5+0: https://lichess.org/tournament/R25cLt8
Please register in time, the more players for Letzi the better!

Please continue to follow the safety regulations of the BAG, the SSB and the GZ, e.g.

    • stay at home if you do not feel well – in case we would have to send you home
    • pass your contact details to our Covid responsible, i.e. Roger Loup
    • please wash your hands before and after the chess evening
    • from an age of 12 you have to wear a sanitary face mask
    • please keep a distance of 1.5 meter whenever possible
    • there is a maximum of 15 persons an evening
    • the room must be aired out on a regular base

News about GZ, Swiss Team Battle, SGM and our Annual Meeting

For at least half a year we can meet every Tuesday evening in the Cafeteria of the GZ Bachwiesen (Bachwiesenstrasse 40, Zürich) and finally play chess again over-the-board!

We will start on September 29th with the kids training from 18:30 – 19:15 and continue after a break of 30 minutes at 19:45 with an open rapid tournament.

There is one parking place for us – please ask me to get the ticket for the front window or pick it from the box with the chess material. In case there is more than one driver, I would like to give the ticket “round-robin”. There are more parking areas nearby, like at the Pflegezentrum or the Freilager.

Because of the Covid-19 circumstances, we kindly ask you to register beforehand with me or Roger.
When we play chess, please respect the rules defined by the Federal Office of Public Health such as washing hands and staying home if sick. We will also take attendance every chess evening. We will provide some hand sanitizer at the venue.

In the Swiss Team Battle we were able to stay in league 2 with a great 4th place! Congratulations especially to our best players Patric Müller, Clément Richet and Georg Kradolfer!

We will continue in the Club-Cup with the championship starting 5th November 2019 – time control is like in the ZMM: 60 minutes for the whole game + 30 seconds bonus! It will be probably 5 rounds Swiss system.

The next tournament in the Rapid Competition will be early next year 7th January 2020!
